The Apalachicola National Forest is planning to enhance the Munson Hills and Twilight mountain bike trails this year with the assistance of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds. Valerie Naylor with Trail Dynamics is coming to town to perform an assessment and conditions survey before the work begins. Valerie was a Trails Coordinator with the Florida Office of Greenways and Trails and helped manage the Santos trail system before joining Trail Dynamics. She will evaluate the trail conditions and make specific recommendations to make the system sustainable, more user friendly and fun for mountain bikers. Her survey will help the U.S. Forest Service bid with a construction contract within the next year.
Tom Sauret, Executive Director of Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA) and Regional Director of International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) will also be in attendance and joining in the events.

For more information, contact Jim Schmid, U.S. Forest Service Trails Manager, at (850) 523-8528 or e-mail at jimschmid@fs.fed.us.
