June is a great month for the great outdoors as we celebrate National Great Outdoors month!  Check out the events below…

June 5-6: Forest Service Waives Fees in Celebration of National Trails Day
The National Forests in Florida is waiving fees to the public on June 5-6 at select day-use areas in the Apalachicola, Osceola and Ocala National Forests.  Log onto www.fs.fed.us/r8/florida in the News & Alerts section for more information.

June 5 @ 9 a.m.:  National Trails Day Celebration
The Florida Trail Association, Florida Department of Environmental Protection Office of Greenways & Trails, and Wakulla County are hosting a National Trails Day celebration for the public at the Wakulla Station Trailhead on the Tallahassee-St. Marks Historic Railroad State Trail.  The Florida Trail Association will recognize the newly designated Florida Trail Gateway Communities:  the cities of Sopchoppy and St. Marks, and Wakulla County.  The event will also showcase trail and outdoor recreation opportunities available on public lands in the area.  Learn more about Florida Gateway Trail communities at the Florida Trail Association website at www.florida.trail.org/options/Communities/.

June 5-13:  National Boating and Fishing Week
The National Forests in Florida has over 600 lakes, rivers and streams.  Check out the Forest Service website at www.fs.fed.us/r8/florida to plan out your next fishing and boating trip.

June 12:  National Great Outdoors Day
Find a Get Outdoors event near you at www.nationalgetoutdoorsday.org.

Starting June 20:  Ocala Outdoor Adventure Camp for Kids
Do your kids want to learn more about the great outdoors?  Sign them up today for the Ocala Outdoor Adventure Camp at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Ocala Conservation Center in the Ocala National Forest.  This year, the camp offers six one-week sessions beginning June 20.  More info can be found on the FWC website’s Newsroom.
