AmeriCorps members planned for Osceola National Forest

The National Forests in Florida is now accepting applications for AmeriCorps positions on the Osceola National Forest in Olustee, FL.   AmeriCorps is a national service program for enthusiastic people to put their idealism into action!

These AmeriCorps positions are focused on volunteer coordination and community outreach.  Duties will include:

  • Recruiting and assisting in the administration of volunteers
  • Building community understanding of, and connection to, natural and cultural resources
  • Serving as an ambassador to the visiting public

Beginning July 1, 2010, the AmeriCorps members will spend 6 months serving on the Osceola National Forest, with potential for a one year extension.  The members will receive a modest living allowance (health insurance not included) during their time of service, and an education award of $2,362 upon completion of the six months.  If you have a passion for volunteering and service, and an interest in natural resources, we would love to hear from you!  Ideal candidates will be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, have excellent communication skills, and be willing to take initiative as part of this new program.
